His love for the animals he treats and his genuine concern for their owners shine through on a daily basis.
In his spare time, Dr. Schatzle enjoys cooking, gardening, catching a good movie, and rooting on the San Diego Chargers and Padres. He currently lives in Del Mar with his rescued Terrier, “Buddy.”

Dr. Meghan C. Landen
Dr. Landen grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science. After three years at Nebraska, she gained early admittance to Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduating from Veterinary School in 2004, Dr. Landen pursued advanced training in a one-year, small animal internship in San Diego. She trained under board certified internal medicine specialists, surgeons and emergency and critical care specialists. Dr. Landen was in general practice in North County for the two years prior to joining the La Costa Animal Hospital team in 2007 as an associate veterinarian. She is a member of the American, California and San Diego Veterinary Medical Associations.
Dr. Landen had aspired to become a veterinarian since she was a small child. As she has realized that life long dream, her goals now are to provide the highest quality of medicine for her patients. Her greatest satisfaction is achieved by celebrating the human-animal bond by caring for pets and seeing their families’ smiling faces when they go home healthy.
In her spare time, Dr. Landen greatly values time with her family and friends. She enjoys staying active by attending the gym, kayaking and visiting San Diego’s beautiful beaches. In the Fall, she (of course) supports her home state’s college football team, The Cornhuskers. Dr. Landen currently lives in La Costa with her rescued Papillon “Lucy.”
